About
It was 1947 when Warren Germain, former accountant and employee for Henry Ford, founded The Germain Motor Company. When he embarked on his journey of proprietorship and opened his first of many dealerships (a Mercury franchise) he was not new to the industry, yet his magnitude for running a successful business was a driving force in creating the foundation that the Germain Family Legacy was built on. Nestled in Columbus, OH, the Germains began their conquest of the automotive industry with one focal point in mind..."Our customers are our prized possessions".
It wasn't until Bob Germain Sr.(son of Warren Germain) attended a Lincoln Mercury sales meeting in 1969, did the idea of taking the company to a new dimension happen. At that meeting, Lee Iacocca praised a new manufacturer, heralding them as a contender and potential player in the U.S. market. The Company in which he was referring to was Toyota.
Despite his father's reservations, Bob Sr. took out a second mortgage on his home, and with $5,000.00 opened Germain Toyota in an old abandoned liquor store across the street from Bexley Mercury.
In 1975, after Warren retired, Toyota and Mercury merged into one dealership.
Then in 1979, Bob sr. expanded his company into the Florida markets where he purchased a Lincoln Mercury franchise in Naples.
Today, Bob Sr. is Chairman of the board. Steve Germain is President. Rick Germain runs the Lexus stores in Columbus and is President of the National Lexus Dealer Council. Bob jr. is Vice President and Director of Operations for the Florida dealerships.
Their franchises include Toyota, Lexus, BMW, Honda, Nissan, Ford, Lincoln Mercury, Acura and the newly additional Mercedes Benz and Chevrolet stores.
Territories include Columbus OH, Naples Fl, and Sarasota Fl.
